Back to Hotel Guides

Compared to many places in Western Europe, Dublin's accommodation is not cheap - and compared to everywhere else in Ireland, it is positively exorbitant. However, like anywhere, you get what you pay for, and the quality is very reasonable.

Like most of the tourist and visitor-oriented sites in Dublin, the city hotels are split into those to the north of the river Liffey, and those to the south. The majority of the accommodation is located either in the Temple Bar area or around Merrion Square and St Stephen's Green. Dublin is small enough that any hotel in the city will be within walking distance of all of the central attractions, though the best located hotels are those south of the river. There are also hotels that are located further out in the city suburbs which are of a very high standard if you want to avoid the press of the centre.

Tips;

Do remember that the popular Temple Bar area will remain busy until extremely late, and especially at weekends when hordes of happy revellers descend on the city. If you value your sleep you might want to look for somewhere less central. Also, Dublin fills up very quickly for the weekends (especially when the Rugby internationals are on), so book early to avoid missing out on the best deals.
