Travel Guide to Dublin

Over the years this fine city has produced many famous names in the worlds of art, literature and music, so it's not surprising that Dublin is full of culture and entertainment, as well as Guinness. There's certainly no shortage of things to do. You can't help but be charmed by the friendly people, their determination to enjoy themselves and make you feel at home. And once you get the taste of 'real' Guinness, you'll have no excuse not to join in with them!

Woollens, Irish Whiskey and fine Irish crystal are just three famous products associated with Ireland you might want to take back with you, but Dublin is an international city, so you'll find all the usual high street names as well.

Kilmainham Gaol

Dublin Zoo
- this zoo has a successful record of breeding endangered species in captivity and is now home to rare animals from around the world. Cost: Adults £6.00/OAP £3.50/Child £1.00.

Gothic and Georgian architecture
- the city has a fine range of classical buildings to see and appreciate.

Recommended Entertainment:

Theatre - Abbey, Gaiety, Gate, Olympia, Peacock and Andrews Lane theatres provide a range of Irish and international plays and shows.

Opera - The National Concert Hall stages classical music performances and Irish pipe music.

Pubs - Dublin has more than its fair quota of public houses and they serve some of Ireland's finest ales. Too many good places to just recommend a few.

Bars - Pravoa, Chocolate Bar, The Globe, Hogans - all provide an excellent atmosphere and a chance to mingle with local poets and artists.

Night Clubs
- The Pod, The Vatican, The Kitchen and the Red Box are the city hot spots for a great night out.

Eating Out
- Most pubs serve traditional Irish food with many restaurants serving both Irish and international cuisine. A vibrant city, expect to find lively venues to eat in with many restaurants regarding food preparation as a fine art. Specialities - Soda Bread, Cobblers Pie, stews and vegeterian dishes.
